Fun on the Green

We were a proud sponsor of the Detroit Sports Media Association's recent Charity Golf Scramble!

The Golf Scramble was a fun-filled day of golf, camaraderie, food, and prizes, all dedicated to supporting the students and community programs aligned with the DSMA mission.

​

Since 1955 the Detroit Sports Media Association's (DSMA) Charity Fund has provided scholarships and support to those in need. They have generated over $500,000 in revenue for scholarships, grants, and charitable contributions to organizations like the Michigan Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame, Gleaners Food Bank, Set Sail for Autism, and Detroit Lions Academy.

Dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the sports and sports related activities of our local region, we want to thank everyone who made this year's Golf Scramble a success and look forward to seeing you on the green again next year!

Peter Jonik

What do you enjoy most about working at Golden? Easy question – the culture and the people. We drive a VERY positive work culture here at Golden and it is all thanks to our amazing employees.

​

What is the most challenging part of your job? Growth is always challenging, so we focus on the fundamental safety principles and core values that got us here. A very important part of the job that I would like to highlight is driving employee engagement with our drivers. Being on the road all day, our drivers don’t always get the face-to-face interaction with our staff members, so it is VERY important that we go out of our way to visit our drivers at our remote locations, bring them some coffee and donuts, and let them know that they are appreciated. We make sure to check in with everyone at least once a week.

​

What does a typical workday at Golden Limo look like for you? You’ll see a lot of hustle and bustle in the Golden office on a typical day. We are constantly putting out fires, coaching, training, and planning for the future. Every day is different. One day, I could be leading a training course on customer service; the next, I’m helping our auto detailing team clean up our buses so our drivers can make their spot times. Whatever it takes to keep the wheels rolling.

​

With Golden's diverse fleet, do you have any favorite vehicles? Everyone loves the Trolley, but the Motor Coach buses are my favorite, simply because they are the largest vehicles we have in our fleet. The Motor Coach is practically a plane on wheels, and it requires a lot of skill and finesse to operate.

​

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? We love the lake life. My wife and I love traveling to northern Michigan with friends and family. We spend as much time as we can camping, fishing, kayaking, and exercising our dog.

​

What's your favorite food? TACOS! Extra hot sauce, please!

​

What brings you joy? A cold Miller Lite after a long week of work!
